Munetsi rescued Zimbabwe
Marshall Munetsi scored twice, either side of Tawanda Chirewa's goal, as Zimbabwe overturned a two-goal deficit in the final 20 minutes on Thursday. That recovery earned three points, but it followed a first half in which Alhassan Conteh and Sallieu Tarawallie both scored.
Zimbabwe's recent wins over India and Zambia were both 1-0. Against Nigeria in May, however, they lost 2-0, while their final AFCON match against South Africa ended in a 3-2 defeat. The stronger attacks on that run have found a way through.
Wissa's goals carry more weight
Wissa added the second goal against Equatorial Guinea after Chancel Mbemba's early opener. He also scored in the World Cup draw with Portugal and the win over Uzbekistan, giving DR Congo production against very different levels of opposition.
The Leopards lost 2-1 to England in the round of 32 and 1-0 to Colombia in the group stage. Those defeats make their overall form less tidy than Zimbabwe's, but the level of opposition matters here.
Harare gives the hosts a chance
Munetsi's late double is the warning against expecting an easy away win. Zimbabwe have just shown they can recover from a poor start, and DR Congo conceded in all four of their World Cup matches. We still prefer Wissa's recent scoring record against a defence that Sierra Leone breached twice.
