Pirates' scoring did not stop with the starting striker

Boitumelo Radiopane scored the opener against TS Galaxy after Oswin Appollis set him up from close range. That gave Pirates a 1-0 half-time lead, but the substitutes helped turn it into a convincing 3-0 result.

Tshepang Moremi entered at the interval and scored five minutes later. Simphiwe Masilela then combined with Kabelo Kgositsile before finishing from a tight angle for his first senior goal.

Those contributions matter against a Milford team conceding less than a goal per league match. Pirates have shown that a stubborn first half does not leave them dependent on one starting forward to find the next opening.

Evidence Makgopa also tested Galaxy goalkeeper Ira Tape after coming on. The home attack continued producing chances as the personnel changed.

Milford have earned their place near the top

Milford collected their fourth league win by beating Golden Arrows 1-0 on 17 October. Ndlabi scored in the 71st minute, and Milford protected the advantage through the remainder of the game.

Their first eight matches produced four wins, three draws and only one defeat. Eight goals scored is a modest total for a top-four side, but conceding six has allowed them to turn close games into points.

That record is why a large-margin Pirates prediction is less convincing than the home-win selection. Milford have not been giving opponents repeated comfortable wins, and another disciplined defensive performance could keep this tie close.

They are also arriving after an away clean sheet. The result at Arrows is directly relevant to their attempt to stay in the game at Orlando.

Pirates' home and defensive records support the pick

The win over Galaxy was Pirates' fourth in four home league appearances and their sixth league clean sheet of the campaign. Their overall return after eight games stood at seven wins, one draw and three goals conceded.

Milford's eight goals must be weighed against that defensive record. A side built on narrow results faces a difficult task if Pirates score first and force it to become more adventurous.

Pirates have also scored 20 league goals, with the Galaxy game adding three different names to the scoresheet. That gives the hosts the stronger case both for creating the opener and for finding another goal if Milford respond.

Milford can make a short price uncomfortable

Galaxy still created chances against Pirates through Sedwyn George, including a shot that Sipho Chaine pushed away. A clean sheet did not mean the visiting attack was completely absent.

Milford's 1-0 win at Arrows shows they can take a second-half opening and defend it. If Pirates waste their first chances, the visitors have the recent confidence to keep the match level deep into normal time.

Milford's single league defeat is the strongest reason to expect a contest rather than a procession. Pirates' four home wins still give them the advantage, but the visitors have earned the right to be taken seriously.
