Hermann supplied four of the Warriors' seven sixes
Jordan Hermann made 70 from 45 balls against Limpopo, hitting four fours and four sixes. Sibonelo Makhanya, JP King and Jean du Plessis each added a six as the Warriors reached 175/4.
Hermann stayed until the 14th over, giving the innings both its biggest score and most of its boundary hitting. Makhanya's 26 from 16 balls helped the opening partnership reach 67 before the first wicket fell from the last ball of the powerplay.
Du Plessis then hit a six in his three-ball nine at the end. Those contributions at either end of the innings support the team selection, although Hermann supplied more than half the Warriors' sixes.
Heat conceded seven sixes apiece to Bryce Parsons and Grant Roelofsen in Durban. Khaya Zondo added two and Phiri one, exposing an attack that struggled against several batters rather than one isolated spell of hitting.
| Batter | Latest completed innings | Sixes |
|---|---|---|
| Jordan Hermann | 70 from 45 v Limpopo | 4 |
| Nonelela Yikha | 43 from 23 v Dolphins | 3 |
| Jordan Neil | 27 from 13 v Dolphins | 2 |
| Ruan van Rooyen | 14 from 12 v Dolphins | 1 |
Heat's top order left too much behind
Northern Cape were 57/5 after 7.2 overs against Dolphins. Kyle Jacobs made one, Tahir Isaacs five and Blake Simpson nought, leaving the chase in difficulty long before the final margin became 104 runs.
Nonelela Yikha made 43 from 23 balls, with three fours and three sixes. Jordan Neil added 27 from 13, including two sixes, but both were dismissed with the total on 101 and Heat were eventually all out for 135.
Heat hit seven sixes themselves: three from Yikha, two from Neil and one each from Gerhardus Maree and Ruan van Rooyen. Their total matched the Warriors' seven against Limpopo despite the shorter innings, which is the clearest danger to our pick.
The huge target is an important qualification. Chasing 240 demanded risks that a smaller total would not, so Heat's dismissals cannot all be read as problems they will repeat in a different game.
Kaber can shorten Heat's innings
Thomas Kaber took 4/25 against Limpopo, removing both set batters in Ernest Kemm and Christoffel Klijnhans. He also dismissed Keenan Vieira and Thomas Mayes, giving the Warriors wickets through the middle order rather than simply at the tail.
Wesley Bedja conceded only 21 from four overs. Those spells give the Warriors a route to limiting Heat's scoring opportunities, particularly after the visitors left twenty deliveries unused in Durban.
The Warriors' own batting is not beyond a collapse. They made only 128/6 in their opening defeat to North West, who reached the target with 27 balls remaining. Losing Hermann early would remove their main six-hitting contributor from the Limpopo game.
Johannes van Dyk dismissed Jason Smith and Sean Gilson from consecutive balls against Dolphins. Heat still took five wickets despite conceding 239, so the Warriors cannot count on all their batters getting a long stay at the crease.
Warriors return after Sunday's washout
The home game against Lions on 4 October was abandoned without a ball bowled because of persistent rain and a sodden outfield. The Warriors therefore come into Thursday with one completed win and one completed defeat, not a fresh result from that fixture.
The bet combines Hermann's hitting with Heat's difficult bowling performance in Durban. Seven sixes from each side in their latest completed games makes it a modest edge rather than a reason for a large stake.
Betway offers Warriors at @1.65, Heat at @2.65 and the draw at @7.25 in this three-way market. When comparing betting sites in South Africa, note that equal six counts lose this selection rather than returning the stake.
Verdict
Warriors to hit the most sixes @1.65 at Betway is our half-unit pick. Hermann's four against Limpopo and Heat's seventeen conceded in Durban favour the hosts, but Yikha and Neil make the visitors a live threat in this market.
