Abrahams has already built a substantial innings
Abrahams faced 50 balls for his 66 in Paarl, hitting six fours and a six. He was the Knights' leading scorer in their 160/5, ahead of George van Heerden's 53 from 42 balls.
The pair took the innings from 43/1 to 117/2. Abrahams stayed until the 16th over, giving us an example of him batting through the middle of a T20 innings rather than relying on a short burst at the top.
He followed that with 12 from seven balls against Titans, all three scoring shots going for four. That innings was brief, but the Knights were chasing 268 after Lhuan-dre Pretorius' unbeaten 188. It was a very different assignment from building a competitive first-innings total.
Abrahams comes at @5.30 in the match-wide market, slightly longer than Jacques Snyman's @4.95. We're taking the player who has recently turned his start into a fifty, with a half-unit stake because that form has not yet become a run of substantial scores.
| Knights batter | Against Boland | Against Titans |
|---|---|---|
| Cole Abrahams | 66 from 50 | 12 from 7 |
| George van Heerden | 53 from 42 | 12 from 9 |
| Jacques Snyman | 23 from 15 | 32 from 12 |
| Gihahn Cloete | 13 not out from 8 | 39 from 25 |
Tuskers have lost twenty wickets in two games
Tuskers were dismissed for 142 chasing Mpumalanga Rhinos' 159/4 on 2 October. Two days later, Boland made 187/5 in Pietermaritzburg and bowled them out for 124, a 63-run defeat.
Siyabonga Mahima took 4/20 in that second game, with Akhona Mnyaka contributing 2/26 and Ferisco Adams 2/11. The wickets were shared, rather than Tuskers losing the match to one isolated spell.
Those two totals strengthen the case for a Knights batter to lead the scoring. Tuskers have twice failed to produce enough runs to complete a chase, while Abrahams and Van Heerden have each made a fifty against the same Boland side.
Boland's 187/5 also exposed the other half of Tuskers' game. Their attack conceded a larger total than the Knights managed in Paarl, giving Abrahams a reasonable opportunity to improve on his seven-ball innings against Titans.
Cloete and Snyman are serious rivals
Gihahn Cloete's 39 from 25 balls was the Knights' highest score against Titans. His seven fours make him an obvious threat to our selection, and @5.80 is only a little longer than Abrahams' price.
Snyman was even quicker, hitting 32 from 12 deliveries with three fours and two sixes. His dismissal at 33/1 ended that burst before he could turn it into the sort of score needed to dominate this market.
Van Heerden is priced at @5.50 after his own fifty in Paarl. Abrahams is our preference, but there is no large price gap separating the Knights' main batting options, which keeps this to half a unit.
The Knights' bowling adds another risk. Every bowler used against Titans conceded at least eleven runs per over, so Tuskers could find this attack a considerable relief after facing Mahima and Adams.
A batting pick despite the Knights' results
Knights lost to Western Province with two balls remaining and to Boland from the final ball before the heavy Titans defeat. Their batting has kept them competitive in two games, but the attack has not finished either defence.
That is why our selection follows Abrahams rather than the Knights' @1.50 match-win price. Compare the match-wide top-batsman market across SA betting sites; this pick includes the Tuskers batters, not just Abrahams' teammates.
Verdict
Cole Abrahams @5.30 at Betway is our half-unit selection. His 66 in Paarl and Tuskers' successive batting collapses give us a specific route into the game, with Cloete's scoring and the Knights' own bowling the main dangers.
