Live streaming on SA bookmakers has improved every year since 2022. Most major operators now stream Premier League, La Liga, ATP tennis, and live racing directly within their app or mobile site. Streaming is free for funded accounts at most operators - no separate subscription needed.

How SA Bookmaker Streaming Works

What you typically need

  • A funded account (some operators require active bet on the event you want to watch)
  • Decent connection - 3G works, but 4G+ or WiFi gives clearer picture
  • Mobile or desktop - all top SA operators stream on both

Data usage

Live streaming on SA bookmakers uses about 200-300 MB per hour at standard quality. If you have a low data cap, switch to "data saver" mode in app settings or watch on WiFi only. Hollywoodbets is uniquely positioned as one of the few operators with a fully zero-rated mobile site - free to access on all SA networks regardless of data balance.

Sport-by-Sport Coverage

Football

Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Champions League: Betway and 10Bet have the broadest paid-content streaming rights. Hollywoodbets streams selected fixtures. PSL streaming is rare on betting sites because broadcast rights sit with SuperSport.

Horse Racing

SA racing: Hollywoodbets streams every race they sponsor (which is most of the major SA racing calendar including the Durban July). World Sports Betting streams domestic racing widely. International racing (Hong Kong, Australia, UK) is partially streamed at most major operators.

Tennis

ATP and WTA tour events are streamed at Betway, 10Bet, and Sportingbet during peak tournament periods. Grand Slams generally fall outside streaming rights and require alternate viewing.

Rugby

Limited streaming. URC, EPCR, and SA domestic rugby broadcast rights remain with SuperSport, so SA betting sites typically do not offer streaming. Live betting markets are still available without video.

Cricket

SA20 and Proteas internationals: limited streaming on betting sites for similar reasons to rugby. Some international tours stream on Betway and 10Bet through their partnerships.

Basketball

NBA: Betway streams selected fixtures. EuroLeague and BAL coverage at SA operators is improving.

Picture-in-Picture and Multi-View

iOS supports Picture-in-Picture for video. The Betway iOS app uses it: tap the small PiP icon while streaming and the video shrinks to a corner of your screen so you can place bets in the same app or browse other apps. Hollywoodbets does not currently use PiP.

Common Streaming Issues

Stream not loading

Force-close the app and reopen. If the issue persists, the operator's streaming feed may be temporarily down - check their support channels.

Stream lags behind broadcast

Streaming on betting sites is typically 30-60 seconds behind live TV. This is normal and applies to every SA operator. Do not assume the live odds you see are predictive of what is currently happening.

Geographic restrictions

Some streams (especially international racing and Premier League) have territorial restrictions. If a stream is greyed out, the rights may not extend to SA viewers. Check the operator's help section.
