Key Takeaways
  • 2nd of the three-match ODI series between Namibia and South Africa.
  • All three matches at Namibia Cricket Ground, Windhoek.
  • Gerhard Erasmus captains Namibia; Craig Williams the head coach.
  • Series is part of the South African tour of Namibia in September 2026.
  • Kick-off 9:30 SAST at Namibia Cricket Ground.

The Proteas' batting depth is the fundamental gap in this series. South Africa's ODI middle order has options at every position - Jordan Hermann, Connor Esterhuizen, Tony de Zorzi, Dewald Brevis, Rubin Hermann. Namibia's bowling attack, led by Ruben Trumpelmann and supported by Ben Shikongo and Bernard Scholtz, will need a top-class effort to make an impact.

Namibia's batting has to find early runs. Gerhard Erasmus and JJ Smit are the two batters capable of taking on the Proteas' pace attack but they need starts from Zane Green and Malan Kruger at the top of the order. The Namibia Cricket Ground is a fair batting surface but the Proteas' seamers - Kwena Maphaka in particular - are a different level of pace than most bowlers Namibia face in domestic cricket.

Bet on Namibia vs SA 2nd ODI at Betway →

The class difference is decisive

The gap between a Full Member and an Associate side is most visible in bowling depth. South Africa can rest a Kwena Maphaka and still field two strike bowlers, whereas Namibia needs all their bowlers to hit peak levels for the entire innings. Over 50 overs, that gap compounds.

Namibia's route to competitiveness is chasing

If Namibia win the toss and bowl, they give themselves the best chance. A total under 250 in the first innings puts a fluent chase on the board. Anything over 280 gives the Proteas' bowlers control from ball one.

Verdict

South Africa to Win at @1.25 is the two-unit banker. SA Total Runs Over 280.5 at @1.85 is the correlated add. Dewald Brevis as Top SA Batter at @3.60 is the outside play - he's the middle-order X-factor. Expect a comfortable Proteas win.
