Guide

SuperSport is the place to start for Rugby's Greatest Rivalry in South Africa. The four Tests and the franchise fixtures sit in one tour, and the practical job is knowing which DStv option and kick-off time applies before the braai is already under way.

Viewing at a glance
  • SuperSport carries the tour in South Africa
  • DStv Premium and DStv Compact Plus give the relevant rugby and Grandstand coverage
  • DStv Stream carries the same subscription viewing online

SuperSport and DStv

SuperSport holds the South African broadcast rights for the tour. The schedule is carried across its rugby and Grandstand coverage, subject to the channel allocation published for each match week. DStv Premium and DStv Compact Plus are the packages to check when you want the full live broadcast.

Confirm the final channel listing in the SuperSport TV guide on match day. Live sport schedules can change around overlapping fixtures, and the guide gives the cleanest final answer.

DStv Stream

DStv Stream carries the channels included with your DStv package on a phone, tablet, smart TV or browser. Sign in with the account linked to the right package before kick-off, particularly if you are travelling or watching away from the decoder.

Some viewers use a day-pass option where it is offered by DStv. Check the current package and eligibility in the DStv app or website because pass availability and pricing can change.

Radio coverage

Radio 2000 and RSG are the radio services to watch for match-day rugby coverage and updates. Their schedules can vary by fixture, so check the station programme page before the Test. Radio is the useful backup when the traffic into Ellis Park is doing its thing.

Plan around the kick-offs

The three South African Tests begin at 17:10 SAST, which leaves enough time to get settled after an afternoon drive. The Baltimore Test starts at 23:00 SAST, so arrange the late viewing before Saturday night gets busy.

The franchise fixtures run at 19:00 SAST in Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria and Johannesburg. The schedule in the hub marks the dates and venues in one place.

What we do not recommend

Do not rely on unofficial streams or try to bypass broadcast restrictions. They can be unreliable and breach the service terms. Use the published SuperSport and DStv options, or radio coverage when a screen is not available.
